The truth is: it happens to the best of us. We all have days that are just hard. Moments where it all just weighs down at the same time & simply feels HEAVY.
When you’re passionate about what you do & are committed to living your life your way, you pour yourself into it & sometimes, no matter how much you try to avoid it… it gets heavy. Even if it’s just for an evening, it happens.
Today was one of those days. It’s been an amazing week. So many great things happening in my business, I haven’t felt super well but I’ve been pushing through & taking care of business & me very intentionally. But around 6 pm after literally crossing the 34th thing off a 72 item to-do list filled with left over tasks from the past 10 days & my 4th extremely tough workout, my mind, my energy, & my body said NOPE. That’s it. It’s time to sit down.
I fought it for about 30 minutes, gave in, ate, laid down with my pups, turned off my phone, and drifted off to Stars Hallow to escape reality for an hour or so.
Why? Because I listened to my body. I listened to my mind. I listened to my soul & they were all in sync yelling at me to do so.
Don’t get me wrong, there was a time where I wouldn’t have listened. I would have pushed through. I would have made myself physically sick & mentally foggy. realistically I would have pushed harder even today if I had a deadline to meet on something. But what good would that do for anyone?
Pushing myself to the point of being physically sick delays my whole world for days. I know this from experience & I refuse to waste time like that.
Also, I am extremely committed to always provide my highest support to my clients & tribe so for me to push myself & try to deliver anything to them when I’m not at full capacity & clear minded is not an option.
In my opinion, it’s disrespectful to them. It’s cheating them & it’s not what I stand for. My commitment is to give my best self to the people who I am here to impact so THAT is why I put my own wellness as top priority because you simply can’t pour from an empty cup & that my friends is a FACT & honestly a responsibility I wish more people would actually take seriously.
So my point is, when you need a rest, take it. Learn to listen to your body & fuel your soul the way it needs. It WILL help you operate better overall. And as that becomes part of your foundation, days that knock you down will still happen but certainly won’t keep you down for very long.
