THE EXPERT
Several years ago I started working with a hair stylist that had her own salon space.
I didn’t think anything of the fact that it was an industry I hadn’t worked in before, it really didn’t matter to me or to her.
I knew where she was and where she was wanting to go.
I knew what she was struggling with, what had stopped her in the past, and how she was currently spending her time/resources.
That’s all I needed to know. I need that- and for her to show up with me week after week and be honest, open, and willing to commit to DOING things.
She did.
And it worked.
I never thought it wouldn’t because you see, business is business. I could tell in our first 15 minute call to see if it was a good fit, that we could make this happen for her.
You see, SHE is the expert in the beauty industry. SHE knows how to do hair, mix formulas, place product orders, handle her retail, and stay trending in her field. SHE was good at her job.
Because SHE IS THE EXPERT her field- I don’t need to be. That’s the way it works for me.
I don’t need to know every little in and out of how to order color and what to keep in stock- that’s not my job here… that’s hers. I can help guide, go through data, and make decisions on what makes the most sense to invest in inventory and see where the profits lie- YES
And I can do that with your t-shirt company, books your neighbor is printing, and windshields my boyfriend purchases in bulk and charges to install.
This is something that some people don’t realize when it comes to someone who is well versed in running their own business and small businesses in general – they don’t need to be an expert in your field to help you expand and grow…. They need to know business and they need to know how to coach, support, and expand.
I will say that my intuition plays a big role in my ability to connect deeply with my clients and that’s something that I don’t mention much when discussing my work- I can tell when something is bothering them. I can tell when they need more space or when they need to be pushed. I can tell when they are self sabotaging. Some of it is experience – yes. And some of it is a gift I have to know those things- and following that nudge.
Now, could I say that I’m a really valuable coach for hairstylists? Yes. I’ve worked with many over the years since this first client from that field came into my life.
Could I also say that I’m a really valuable coach for a repair shop, marketer, business exec, coach, freelancer, etc too? Yep
If your values and goals align with what I know I can help with – Then we’re on.
Maybe that’s not a thing for other people who work in my field, I don’t really know and frankly, it doesn’t really matter to me. This is how it works here, with me and I freaking love it this way.
Now’s the perfect time to step up for yourself and finally hire that Coach. It’s really the ideal time to get the energy buzzing, the impactful habits started, and the support in your corner before we make the shift into winter and the holiday season. This way – you can have this support in your corner before things get a little more hectic and you will be months ahead of everyone else before the year ends and we start a new chapter (and months ahead of where you’d be if you wait until January).
I’m taking quick intro calls with anyone who’s ready for the next 10 days to see if you’re the client I’ve been looking for and if I’m the coach to support you in making this vision a reality. Message me at me@jamiethurber.com to schedule.

Be Grateful for Your Health
If you’re healthy, please be grateful for that. If you feel well, and physically capable most days, or all days, PLEASE be grateful for that.
Consistency Pays Off
It’s been a long long long journey of hard things, all of which I’ve handled like a champ but it’s different than feeling powerful and capable in your own flesh and bones again.
THE HIGHEST HIGHS…AND THE LOWEST LOWS
I’ve said this in conversations several times over the past week or so when coming across busy business owners who are trying to also manage life and feeling a little crazy along the way.
