KNOWING MY OWN RULES AND WHEN TO BREAK THEM
Early on I made a rule that I wouldn’t do calls before 10 am.
For two reasons, at the time I still wasn’t the best “morning person” out there and I always wanted to be totally ON for my clients and secondly, and probably the biggest part was that I knew how important it was that I handled MY business tasks first thing before I got caught up with clients and potentially distracted for the rest of the day.
So I learned to utilize that morning time between 8 and 10 to handle my business.
But then I started making exceptions….for the men on my client list.
Some people may say “JAMIE – YOUR BOUNDARIES” but dude, that’s such a surface level way of looking at it.
Because let me tell you, having 8 am calls with my male clients is the best thing I could have done for them… and for me.
They light me up, I enjoy the constructive tone and ‘let’s get down to business’ space that we create first thing in the morning for them… before the world starts demanding every second of their attention. Before their doors open and the teams show up and the problems need solving.
Before that noise… We have space where they can think.
Where they can connect and where they can hear themselves better.
This has nothing to do with boundaries or me sticking to my “rules”. It does have everything to do with the fact that I understand how a male’s brain works differently than mine. How my female clients can multi-task or stop in the middle of the day if they know it’s coming and fully engage in our coaching conversations without a problem… then they go back to their other things to do and everything is fine.
Men don’t typically work that way.
Can they? Sure. They can ‘make it work’ but that’s not the space where they thrive. That’s not the space where I know we get the best work done together.
So most Thursdays and Fridays for years now I start my day with my male clients before their doors open, sometimes before they even leave their houses to start their days (time zones really help me on this one) and they can fully plug in with me, hash through what we need to, work out plans, discuss needs, get a clearer perspective and then go out into their day, their week and make shit happen.
It works pretty perfectly and it’s something that I’m proud of. Just another way that I am grateful for the knowledge I have of the way guys tick and how I’ve learned to utilize that in order to better serve them… which in turn allows them to better serve themselves, their families, and their dreams.
Never underestimate the method to my madness and the power of working WITH the way that we are wired differently, instead of trying to mesh everyone into the same boat all of the time.

Be Grateful for Your Health
If you’re healthy, please be grateful for that. If you feel well, and physically capable most days, or all days, PLEASE be grateful for that.
Consistency Pays Off
It’s been a long long long journey of hard things, all of which I’ve handled like a champ but it’s different than feeling powerful and capable in your own flesh and bones again.
THE HIGHEST HIGHS…AND THE LOWEST LOWS
I’ve said this in conversations several times over the past week or so when coming across busy business owners who are trying to also manage life and feeling a little crazy along the way.
