I used to hate the morning time.
I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m still not someone who bounces out of bed ready to have all of the conversations and interactions with other humans right away.
But over the years I’ve learned how to make my mornings, MINE.

I’ve turned the first couple of hours of the day into my most favorite parts.
I choose to start it with quiet. And gratitude. And puppy time. And walks. And sitting in front of my alter. And delicious French press, buttery coffee. And meditation music. And writing. And reading. And all of the dance. And yoga. And gardening.
It used to be very rigid and structured.
And that used to serve me well.
Until it didn’t. Until it started feeling more like a chore than something that was originally designed to fill me up and set the stage for my day.
So, I stopped it all. For weeks.
I needed a reset.
I needed it to get back to FLOW. To nourishment. To allowing myself the space to follow what my body and soul are telling me I need in that particular moment.
That doesn’t mean I don’t have to counter that voice in my head that tells me to just cut it short, or skip that for the day because that absolutely is still present. I just actively realize that countering those moments is a part of choosing to do the things versus not.
It’s been a few months since my reset and I’ve been back in the morning flow. No task list. No rigidity. And my goodness is it the most magical thing!?
I am so grateful for my mornings.
I think its important for everything to be intentional with how they start their day.
Especially those of us who give so much of ourselves to other people all day. Whether that is through your work like it is for me, or if it’s being a parent or caregiver.
You want to eliminate burnout and be able to truly, TRULY give the best of yourself to the things you do in your life.
You must be full first.
You must address the things within yourself first to fully be able to serve others without losing yourself.
Start with your morning. Start there.
Trust me. Once you get into a groove, you’ll see exactly what I mean.
I actually recorded a podcast a couple months back specifically about taking control of your mornings. Check it out for ideas on how to make this possible for you too!
This is something I believe in with my whole heart. I’ve been teaching people ways to find a morning set that fits them specifically for years now! Sometimes having the support of someone while you’re going through the process, really helps. We have that support within Operation: Do, if you’re interested in learning more.
