So many people ask me how I get motivated to write, or go to the gym, or do my work even though I really don’t have anyone to answer to but myself.

And the answer is, I’m not always motivated.

I don’t always want to.

It’s not always convenient or exciting.

But I do it anyway.

Honestly, I don’t even allow myself another option anymore.

Writing everyday is not an option. It happens everyday, no matter what. No matter where I am.

My job gets done everyday. It’s not “work”, it’s my life. It has just become part of what makes me tick. It’s natural and I have learned to let it flow no matter what.

And working out every day is a non negotiable these days too. Even when I’m on vacation, am tired, and feel yucky. I hit the gym. My body craves it and I’ll be damned if I’m going to lose the gain I’ve worked so hard to get.

Why do I do these things no matter what? Even when I don’t really want to?

There are 2 main reasons:
1- Because I am ruthlessly committed to myself and the life I’m building.
2- I legitimately FEEL BETTER when I do these things. So why wouldn’t I do them?

It’s a predictable result.
You know what happens if you DON’T do them.
And you know what happens if you DO do them…  why wouldn’t you choose to do the things anyway? When you already know that it’s going to have a positive reaction in your world?

Think about that next time you’re about to make an excuse for the things that you KNOW set you up for success…and do it anyway.
